Making Democracy Work: Civic Traditions in Modern Italy 26.07.2012

In this book author emphasize the importance of "civic community" in developing successful political institutions. Putnam focus is on an experiment begun in 1970 when Italy crated new government for each of its regions. The author and his collaborators analyze the efficacy of local self- governance as well as civil society's role in this process.  
 
More than 700 books, magazines and articles can also be found in the resource centre on the issues related to decentralization, including: political and financial aspects of this process, public participation, examples of countries from Latin America, Asia and Africa.
