Participatory and sustainable development of rural communities in Georgia18.11.2020

In September-November, at a meeting with the initiative groups of the project Participatory and sustainable development of Rural communities in Georgia", the participants discussed the community initiatives to be implemented and new opportunities for civic engagement. Participants: Dilifa and Ashtia Village (Ninotsminda Municipality, Riketi Village (Khulo Municipality), Kokotauri Village (Keda Municipality), Khospio, Shuakhevi and Rateani Villages. The project "Participatory and sustainable development of Rural communities in Georgia" is funded by"Bread for the World".

On October 29, 2020, at 12:00, at the invitation of the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development, an online presentation of the policy essay "Anti-liberal Nativist Challenge to Georgia" was held. Speaker,author of the essay - Ghia Nodia.

Anti-liberal Nativist Challenge to Georgia:How Big It Is and What Can We Do About It? The aim of this paper is to assess, what their expansion implies for Georgia's democratic development: should we consider it a threat in need of an adequate response, or we should take this development as an unavoidable expression of democratic pluralism, however annoying for the people of liberal persuasion?

Involvement of women in community development -
experiences and problems in four regions of Georgia

The Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development, together with its regional partners, implements rural community development projects. Work experience has led the organization to take an interest in the reasons for the lack of involvement of women in community development projects.

The Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development (CIPDD) is a public policy think-tank, specialized in a broad area of democracy development. CIPDD was founded in 1992 in Tbilisi, Georgia. It is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation. It advocates policy goals such as the development of a vibrant and diverse civil society, effective and accountable public institutions based on the rule of law and an integrated political community, which at the same time respects and preserves identities of different ethnic and religious communities in Georgia.
