On November 4th discussion on topic of cultural heritage was held in Press Café. Discussion-"unlimited space" was broadcasted through internet in live regime. Internet users had an opportunity to participate in discussion. The discussion was organized by Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development in partnership with Free Journalists' House. The discussion was organized in the framework of the project: Civil Society for Development: Deccentralization and Participation in Georgia with the financial support of the Netherlends Ministry Foreign Affairs.

On November 3, 2012 discussion: Old Batumi's Architecture - the cultural heritage management policies and outcomes - has been held in Batumi. Issues related to the new constructions and preserving old buildings were discussed during the meeting. Photoes by Shota Gujabidze reporting on "Life in Batumi" were also screened during the discussion. The discussion was organized by Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development in partnership with Free Journalists' House and was hosted by Press Café Batumi.

In CIPDD resource centre you have an opportunity to find a new book "Citizenship: A Very Short Introduction" by Richard Bellamy. In this book author explains what citizenship is, and why it matters: What does it mean to be a citizen of a modern, complex community? Author describes the main models of citizenship, exploring how ideas of citizenship have changed through time from ancient Greece to the present. More than 700 books, magazines and articles can also be found in the resource centre on the issues related to decentralization, including: political and financial aspects of this process, public participation, examples of countries from Latin America, Asia and Africa. The term "community" refers to a social group, usually larger than a village, whose members reside in a specific locality and often share a common cultural and historical heritage. Respectively, the local self-government is sometimes referred to as community government. The "quality" of local self-government is usually measured by the following two criteria: - How democratic is the local self-government? How well does it represent local communities' interests and will?

In this book author emphasize the fact that government is too important to be left in the hands of a few; and in a democracy, everyone has both the opportunity and the obligation to participate in public life.
