Labor Party of Georgia disapproves the Readmission Treaty with EU, which is in force from today and calls upon the government to nullify the agreement. The opposition party asserts the agreement will cause deportation of Georgian illegal immigrants from Europe.
The Labor Party sent the address with the demand to block the Readmission Treaty to the leaders of the EU member states and the EU embassy in Georgia.

The purpose of the Agreement is to facilitate the issuance of visas for an intended stay of no more than 90 days per period of 180 days to the citizens of Georgia.
The agreement does not apply for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ireland, The Kingdom of Denmark, the Republic of Iceland, the Kingdom of Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The agreement defines a number of simplifies procedures for issuing visas.
