Functional and sustainable democracy can be defined as a constant balance between various state and civil institutions. The level of development of these institutions in Georgia is low. At the same time, the capabilities of the international community to significantly accelerate the development of these institutions are limited. However, there are still ways and means to promote such development. The Caucasus Institute has accumulated some knowledge and experience in promoting democratic institutions, both independently and in cooperation with international organizations and non-governmental organizations. Such work remains a strategic priority of the Institute. It involves the following types of actions: studying the current situation in specific areas, discussing various options for solving problems and providing them to the public, and in some cases, deepening the knowledge and skills of specific organizations or groups. The Institute's traditional targets from the public sphere are: education, civil-military relations and security, and local self-government sectors. The Institute will also work with political parties, media, and non-governmental organizations. However, the aforementioned target priorities do not exclude the identification of new sectors if necessary.
