Project title: Intergovernmental Agreements on Labor Migration: Policy Research and Recommendations06.11.2012



                                                                 Description:

The goal of this project is to help government of Georgia to create a strategy on achieving a mutual labor agreement with other countries. In particular, it is aimed at conducting policy relevant research as a result of which main problems/obstacles for reaching these agreements will be identified and meaningful solutions to these problems suggested. At the same time, problems related to the absence of such agreements will be highlighted together with possible benefits of concluding them. As a result of project, policy paper will be produced and submitted for consideration to decision makers and other stake-holder groups. Wide discussions on conclusions and recommendations got as a result of the research will be organized to ensure their influence on decision making process. It is presumed that development of state policy in this field and, as a consequence, concluding agreements between Georgia and countries of destination will enhance quality of life of migrants and create effective mechanisms for protection of their rights. As a main component of project, conduction of policy relevant research is envisaged. Based on the result of the research, concrete suggestion will be formulated which will help to improve state policy in this field.
The Main findings of research as well as recommendations will be included to policy paper which will be widely disseminated among stake-holder groups.
