Georgia’s PM Irakli Gharibashvili initiated 50 percent election barrier on the threshold of the local self-government elections. As InterPressNews was informed from the Prime Minister’s Press Service, under Mr. Gharibashvili’s initiation, the townships will introduce direct elections for the Mayors with 50 per cent election barrier. Into the bargain, the PM offered the political forces to set 50 per cent election barriers for the governor’s too. At yesterday’s meeting, the premier managed to push his initiation through the Coalition. The newly-initiated project resulted in implementing 33 per cent election barrier for Governors with 40 percent election barrier for Mayors.
