This book is a short account of the history of the doctrine and practice of democracy, from ancient Greece and Rome through the American, French, and Russian revolutions, and of the usages and practices associated with it in the modern world.

We have established a resource centre for community activists and organizers. The CSD Resource Centre is located in the CIPDD office on the Tsereteli Avenue 72. It hosts a web-based information and communication space as well as a library stocking material on decentralization, participation and local development.

Student debates in Batumi 03.12.2012

On December 1th student debates were held in the Center for Civic Engagement in Batumi. Students debated over the topics: risks related to decentralization in Georgia and options for direct elections of city mayors. Team from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University won the debates.

On November 22 the delegation made up of officials from the Eastern Partnership, Western Balkan states and Poland visited Georgia to negotiate visa liberalization issues with Georgian colleagues.
